The court sent him into custody until March 17 with an alternative bail of UAH 500 million.
That’s exactly what the prosecutor’s office asked the defendant to do. Grinkevich Jr. on the morning of January 22 was detained in Odessa while trying to leave the country, bail in the amount of UAH 500 million. Previously, he was put on the wanted list.
Roman Grinkevich, in Odessa, according to investigators, organized an attempt to cross the border; at the trial he argued that he had no intention of leaving the country and would “defend his honor and prove he was right.”
He denies the suspicions announced to him and considers them “someone’s order.”
According to Grinkevich’s lawyer, the suspicion was received only today. He did not receive the summons, which was sent to different addresses, because he was away from home. The defense called the suspicion unfounded and asked to apply a “softer” preventive measure.
Lawyers filed a motion to determine jurisdiction of the case, but the judge rejected it.
Grinkevich Jr. was released from the glass booth and allowed to sit near the lawyer. Previously, he refused to communicate with journalists and said that he would speak after the meeting, “because this could be used against him,” a correspondent reports from the courtroom.
Roman Grinkevich is suspected of creating and participating in a criminal organization, as well as fraud in the case of supplying clothing to the military.
Previously, four defendants in the case had already been taken into custody. The fifth, Roman Grinkevich, was wanted. Prosecutor General Andrei Kostin announced the detention of the fifth defendant at a press conference. Grinkevich Jr. previously spoke about ordering the scandal. The main defendant in the case, his father Igor Grinkevich, has been in custody since the end of December 2023.
