A large fire broke out at the Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Co. Ltd. petrochemical plant in Shanghai. This was reported by Reuters.
The fire started around 4:00 am at an ethylene glycol processing plant owned by Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical, the state-owned oil company headquartered in an industrial park in suburban Jinshan.
One person died in the fire.
Firefighters put out the blaze, the company said in a statement posted on its Chinese social media account.

Sinopec Shanghai has a processing capacity of 16 million tons of crude per year and 700 thousand tons of ethylene.
