The opposition party Bloc of Communists and Socialists, which called the meeting unconstitutional, refused to take part in the meeting. The meeting was also attended by the President of the country, Maia Sandu.
From Romania, the meeting was attended by leaders of both chambers – Marcel Colacu and Florin Chicu, as well as leaders of parliamentary groups, Senate commissions and the House of Deputies.
Following the meeting, a joint declaration shall be adopted.
The session of parliaments was a repetition of Sfatul Cerii, a body that existed in 1917-1918 and then declared the unification of Romania and Moldova.
Recall that the other day, the European Commission approved the applications of Ukraine and Moldova and recommended to give the countries the status of a candidate for EU membership in the subsequent implementation of the necessary measures.
