The fire in Klintsy was assigned an increased level of complexity, more than 30 people were evacuated, said the regional governor Alexander Bogomaz.
He confirmed that four tanks with petroleum products were on fire after the drone attack. More than 140 people are involved in extinguishing the fire.
The AFP agency, citing a source, reported that Ukraine claimed responsibility for the attack on the oil depot. The Ukrainian authorities did not officially comment on the incident.
According to Bogomaz, the drone was shot down, but “during the destruction of the air target, ammunition was dropped.” After that, he said, the region was attacked by two more drones.
