This is stated in a statement by the country’s Ministry of Defense, distributed by the North Korean state news agency KCNA.
The testing of weapons in the Sea of Japan, the DPRK Ministry of Defense claims, was “a response to naval exercises conducted by the United States, South Korea and Japan from January 15 to 17.”
We strongly condemn the reckless actions of the United States and its satellites, which have seriously threatened the security of the DPRK since the beginning of the new year, and strictly warn of catastrophic consequences.
On January 14, the North Korean dictatorship announced it was testing a medium-range ballistic missile with a hypersonic guided warhead in the Sea of Japan.
The South Korean Ministry of Defense then condemned the tests carried out by the DPRK, noting that there would be a response to direct provocations from North Korea.
