Ukraine has agreed to purchase four MQ-1C Gray Eagle reconnaissance drones.
The United States has decided to suspend the sale of four MQ-1C Gray Eagle attack drones to Ukraine for fear that their secret equipment will fall into Russia’s hands, Reuters wrote.
The Pentagon’s Office of Defense Technology Security, which has a duty to monitor the high cost of technology, has opposed the supply of drones.
The agency has expressed concerns that radar and drone surveillance equipment could pose a security risk to the U.S. if it falls into Russia’s hands. It was noted that this consideration was ignored in the initial consideration, but appeared in the negotiations at the end of last week.
According to the publication, the Pentagon continues to consider the deal.
“A solution could replace the existing radar and sensor complex with a simplified version, but could take several months to build and install,” the report said.
Earlier, the US Air Force developed a new Phoenix Ghost drone system to meet the needs of Ukraine.
The other day, the Pentagon published a list of all weapons transferred to Ukraine during the war with Russia.
