The enemy made several attempts at the beginning of 2024 – five times the invaders tried to enter the borderlands of the Chernihiv and Sumy regions. However, as of January 18, the situation on the northern border is stable. The commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Sergei Naev, stated this while visiting combat training events in the Chernihiv region, the command reported on Facebook.
According to him, there is currently no recorded accumulation of enemy forces near the border. And members of the defense forces are working around the clock to improve their skills to stop hostile intentions.
Naeva added that the preparation of anti-sabotage and anti-landing reserves is currently underway in the Northern Operational Zone. Ukrainian fighters are learning to counter a mock enemy using unmanned aircraft, setting up explosive engineering barriers, creating observation posts and deploying an anti-sabotage reserve.
The lieutenant general also added that the military command has not observed an increase in the level of threat in the Kiev direction recently.
What will happen next – we will observe the enemy, draw conclusions in a timely manner, report to the high command and strengthen ourselves with additional forces in case this starts to happen,” the commander said.
Let us remind you that the other day a Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group entered the territory of the Chernigov region and shot at a car with a civilian man on the territory of the Semenovskaya community.
