The prosecutor’s office opened criminal proceedings for violation of privacy.
The prosecutor’s office of the Kiev region opened criminal proceedings for violation of privacy at the request of the journalist. The press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General reported this on Thursday, January 18.
“A journalist from an information project contacted the police with a statement that unknown persons had illegally collected and distributed confidential information about him,” the statement said.
The Office of the Prosecutor General recalled that the previous day, a video was distributed to the media with the participation of the victim in one of the rural complexes in the Kyiv region, filmed by a hidden camera in a rented room.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated for breach of privacy. The investigation takes steps to establish all the circumstances of the criminal offense and the persons involved.
Earlier, the SBU reported that they were investigating the illegal wiretapping and video recording of Bihus.Info representatives.
The other day, a video surfaced online in which Bihus.Info employees were allegedly using drugs during a corporate New Year’s party. The founder of the Bihus.Info project, Denis Bihus, said that there were cameramen in the video, and that the journalists were not using drugs. He assured that he would make difficult personnel changes.
At the same time, Bigus said that the members of the Bihus.Info team were monitored for almost a year, and the cameras in the rooms of the country complex, where the team members were celebrating a corporate party, were placed by representatives of a “yet. unknown service.”
President Vladimir Zelensky responded to the scandal. The head of state said that any pressure on journalists is unacceptable.
