The video showing the “revealing” conviction was provided to the BBC by South and North Development (Sand), an institute that works with defectors from the North.
The footage, which appears to have been filmed in 2022, shows two 16-year-olds being handcuffed in front of hundreds of students at an outdoor stadium.
South Korean entertainment, including television, is banned in the North. Despite this, some are willing to risk severe punishment to gain access to so-called “K-dramas,” which have a huge global audience.
This video was distributed in North Korea for ideological education and warning citizens not to watch “decadent recordings.”
The culture of the rotten puppet regime has even spread to teenagers. They are only 16 years old, but they have ruined their future, says the announcer.
The video also reveals the names of the guys and their addresses.
