Russia has finally gotten rid of all kinds of illusions about the West after the start of the war against Ukraine and now knows that it is impossible to trust the West, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
Ukraine received “tolerance” from Western countries, and now it has become a “path to disaster.” This opinion was expressed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a press conference on the results of Russian diplomacy in 2023 on Thursday, January 17.
“Everything is permitted in Kiev, and this permissiveness is expressed in everything it does… Permissiveness is the path to disaster. And the disaster has already occurred in the brain of the current Ukrainian regime, and they lead their entire country there,” Lavrov complained.
According to him, Russia finally got rid of all kinds of illusions about the West after the start of the war against Ukraine and now it knows that it cannot trust the West.
“Some illusions, if they still remained since the 1990s, that the West has opened arms to us, that democracy will unite us all – all these illusions have completely disappeared. The West cannot be trusted ,” said the Russian Foreign Minister.
According to him, Western countries have shown that they only want to “live at the expense of others and be smarter than others.”
Lavrov said that it seems that the West is conducting “hybrid all-round aggression” against Russia, and this has helped Russian society understand “how to live more.”
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin made a cynical statement that in 2014, the war in Ukraine seems to have been started by the United States, and not by Russia, which joined the Ukrainian Crimea and started a hybrid that war in Donbass.
