The Pakistani Foreign Ministry said the “sole purpose of the strikes” on Iranian territory “is to ensure our own security.”
The Pakistani army on Thursday, January 18, launched a series of strikes against “anti-Pakistan militant groups” based in Iran. This was stated in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.
“This morning, Pakistan carried out a series of highly coordinated and targeted military strikes on terrorist hideouts in Iran’s Sistan-o-Baluchistan province. During the intelligence operation named Marg Bar Sarmachar, several terrorists were killed,” the report said.
The attacks were a manifestation of Pakistan’s “determination to defend its national security against all threats,” it said.
The Foreign Ministry also added that Pakistan “respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iran.”
“The sole purpose of the strikes is to ensure Pakistan’s own security and national interests, which are paramount and cannot be compromised,” the statement said.
As we have already written, Iran launched a missile attack on the territory of Pakistan. Five people died, including two children. Pakistan has decided to recall its ambassador from Iran.
Let’s remember that on January 16, Iraq recalled its ambassador from Iran after the attack on the city of Erbil. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has carried out strikes on targets in Iraq and Syria.
