From the Primorsko-Akhtarsk area in occupied Crimea and the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, the enemy launched 33 attack UAVs of the Shahed-136/131 type. In addition, two S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles were sent by the enemy from the Belgorod region to the Kharkov region. The Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported this on January 18 in Telegram.
The main directions of impact are south and north. Ukrainian Air Force and Defense Force units managed to destroy 22 enemy drones. The military stressed that several more UAVs did not reach their targets.
Russian drones were shot down by anti-aircraft missile units and mobile fire groups and electronic warfare equipment. Air defense operated within the Sumy, Nikolaev, Kherson, Dnepropetrovsk, Kirovograd and Khmelnytsky regions.
Let us recall that on the night of January 17, the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the first time used the hybrid air defense system of the FrankenSAM project to shoot down Russian kamikaze drones of the Shahed type. The enemy UAV was hit at a distance of 9 km.
