The new agreement will strengthen the strategic partnership between Moscow and Tehran and cover the entire range of their relations, the Foreign Ministry said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi are about to sign a new interstate agreement between the two countries, which should “deepen their cooperation.” Reuters wrote this on Wednesday, January 17.
Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for Russia’s Foreign Ministry, told reporters on Wednesday that the new agreement between Moscow and Tehran will cover the entire scope of their relations.
“This document is not only timely, but also overdue. Relations between the two countries are experiencing an unprecedented rise,” said Zakharova.
He said that the new agreement is expected to be signed during one of the future contacts between the two presidents. The date of the meeting between the two leaders has not yet been determined.
As Reuters recalls, last month Putin held five-hour talks in the Kremlin with Iran’s president “amid growing political, trade and military ties between Moscow and Tehran, which are viewed with concern -concerned by the United States and Israel.”
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdullahian said that the Iranian side has not provided any drones or missiles to Russia for use against Ukraine. He noted that “the Ukrainians have not given Iran any evidence in its favor.” According to him, the accusations from the Ukrainian side are “baseless.”
According to media reports, Iran has developed a new version of the Shahed-107 kamikaze attack drone, which Russia can use.
