Reuters reports this.
The strike took place northeast of the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, Erbil, in a residential area near the US consulate. According to the agency, four people were killed as a result of the shelling, and six more wounded were hospitalized.
Iran has promised revenge for the killing of three guardsmen in Syria last month serving as military advisers there.
In response to the Zionist regime’s recent atrocities involving the killing of Guard and Axis Resistance commanders… one of the Mossad’s main spy headquarters in Iraqi Kurdistan was destroyed by ballistic missiles, the IRGC said in a statement.
In addition to these strikes, the Iranian Guard also said it “launched a number of ballistic missiles in Syria and killed terrorist operatives” in Iran, including the Islamic State.
The US State Department has already condemned the attacks near Erbil, calling them “reckless”, but officials said that no US targets were attacked and there were no American casualties.
We tracked rockets that fell in northern Iraq and northern Syria. No American personnel or facilities were targeted, White House National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson said. “We will continue to assess the situation, but early signs indicate that this was a thoughtless and inaccurate series of strikes.”
