On January 12, three emergency situations occurred on Pobeda Airlines flights. At night, an alarm sounded at the Cheboksary airport – after landing, the pilots of the flight that arrived from Moscow reported that the main landing gear was on fire. The plane was towed from the runway to a parking area.
That same night, flying over the Omsk region, the crew of the Moscow-Barnaul flight reported a failure of the right side inertial system. In addition, the plane indicated that it was impossible to perform an automatic landing, and the pitch director stopped working on the co-pilot’s screen. After consultation with the airline, the ship’s captain decided to land at the airport in Novosibirsk.
The third incident occurred on the Pobeda flight Moscow – Ufa. In Chuvashia, pilots reported the smell of burnt toilet cables and were asked to land at the destination airport. The plane landed in Ufa.
The publication notes that the number of accidents involving Russian airlines has been growing steadily since the beginning of the year. It was the eighth breakdown in five weeks for Russia’s largest air carrier.
In total, in January–November 2023, Russian carriers recorded 670 incidents in the air. According to the Federal Air Transport Agency, 400 of them (or 60%) are related to the failure of aircraft equipment and engines. About 180 malfunctions occurred during flight – triple the average in 2022 (60) and the average in 2018-21 (55).
