An increase in tension between NATO and Russia may occur in early February of this year, and the outbreak of war in the summer of 2025.
The Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces) is preparing for a possible conflict between Russia and NATO and has predicted its course throughout 2024 and part of 2025. Bild reported this on Sunday, January 14.
A Bild source, citing a secret Bundeswehr document, reports that an increase in tension between NATO and Russia could occur in early February. In a secret document intended for official use only, the German Ministry of Defense details the possible path to the conflict between Russia and NATO, the events that develop month by month. It ends with the deployment of hundreds of thousands of NATO troops and the outbreak of war in the summer of 2025.
Bild cited the scenario from the document, which focused on security and avoiding specific data on NATO troop numbers and movements. The Bundeswehr’s Alliance Defense 2025 scenario envisions the start of Russian mobilization in February 2024, followed by a spring offensive in Ukraine and a subsequent Russian attack on the Baltic states in July. Cyber attacks and other forms of hybrid warfare are expected.
According to the scenario, tensions could rise in October with Russian troops and missiles moving into Kaliningrad. In December 2024, “border conflicts” and “chaos with many casualties” are possible in the “Suwalki Corridor” region. In the post-election period in the United States, when the country may be left without a leader, Russia, with the support of Belarus, may repeat the 2014 invasion of Ukraine on NATO territory.
The scenario ends 30 days after Day X, when NATO moves significant military forces, including the Bundeswehr, to the east. However, the question of whether Russia will be included in NATO remains an open scenario.
Let’s remember that in December 2021, Bild reported, citing a source, the exact plan of the Russian offensive, noting that, on Putin’s orders, the Russian army will carry out “simultaneous attacks from in northern Crimea through the separatist territories in the east. and from the north.”
And in August 2023, Bild reported that the Russian Federation is ready to fight for another 2-3 years.
