Reaching the 1991 borders remains a strategic goal for Ukraine. This is what Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said at a briefing in Davos on Sunday, January 14, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
“I’ll just make it clear that the strategic goal of Ukraine is to reach the border in 1991. The military goal may be different. If the Russians continue to apply pressure, if they continue to be unaffected by sanctions, they will buy oil and gas, they will buy iron and metal, they will buy chemicals and minerals, and they will buy all the materials, it will require more resources from us,” he said.
Umerov emphasized that Ukraine will fight until it achieves its strategic goal and for this it needs partner support.
We remind you that today the fourth meeting of national security advisers and political advisers on the Ukrainian Peace Formula took place in Davos, Switzerland. Representatives of 81 countries and international organizations took part in the event. China ignored the meeting.
Umerov suggested creating an international group to withdraw the Russian army from Ukraine.
