The Moldovan authorities are aware of all the risks and are taking measures to prevent destabilization.
Moldovan President Maia Sandu said her country is trying to protect itself from the risks of destabilization from Russia, but weaknesses still remain, Agerpres quoted her.
Sandu recalled that he expected attempts by the Russian Federation to destabilize the situation in the country this spring, at the height of the election campaign before the presidential election.
“We know that this spring Russia will continue its actions to try to destabilize the situation,” the Moldovan president said.
He assured that the Moldovan authorities are aware of these risks and are taking all measures to prevent these destabilizations.
“We inform citizens about these dangers, as we did last year when Russia intended to overthrow the government (during protests organized by pro-Russian forces). With citizens and government institution, we are trying to protect ourselves from these risks, but we still have weaknesses to work on,” added Sandu.
Presidential elections in Moldova are scheduled to take place in the fall of 2024.
We remind you that Moldova plans to modernize its air defense system to counter threats from the Russian Federation.
