Europe must accept Russia’s challenge and invest unprecedented money in purchasing weapons and increasing defense capabilities, Donald Tusk said.
There may be no place for anti-Ukrainian sentiments in the Polish government. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said this in an interview with TVN24, published the previous day.
According to him, the former pro-government Polish party Law and Justice “tried to play on anti-Ukrainian notes” in the last months of the election campaign. However, he personally will not allow anyone in the new government to base their position on anti-Ukrainian sentiments.
“Because there is no doubt about the war and our commitment, as throughout the Western world, to Ukraine in its confrontation with Russia. Every Polish patriot must, of course, recognize these reasons. In the war with Russia, it is necessary to Ukraine is our help and the help of all the peaceful, free world. This is not a slogan. Because after all, as long as Ukraine is at war with Russia, we are relatively safe, he said,” explained Tusk.
According to him, Poland’s actions will be countered by despair when it comes to helping Ukraine. In this regard, he is actively working with European partners.
Tusk stressed that Russia has put its economy on a “war footing,” so the war could last a long time.
“Europe must accept the challenge and invest incomparably more money in the purchase of weapons, in the increase of defense capabilities. We cannot pretend that nothing is happening. There is no doubt in an issue like armament and support for Ukraine in the war. For me this is an indisputable fact,” he added.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that Ukraine will intensify relations with the new Polish government to resolve problematic bilateral issues.
