The press secretary of the educational institution reported this to the Public on January 11.
Svetlana Grinkevich taught marketing at the Institute of Economics and Management.
The students demanded that she be suspended for the period of the pre-trial investigation into her husband’s case.
Let us recall that Lviv businessman Igor Grinkevich, who was until now considered one of the largest suppliers to the Ministry of Defense, found himself at the center of a corruption scandal.
A few months ago, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) initiated criminal proceedings into transactions involving the purchase of clothing and linen for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). As noted in the DBR report, the Lviv businessman’s companies won 23 tenders to supply the Ministry of Defense with clothing worth more than UAH 1.5 billion. During the investigation, it was established that enterprises controlled by the businessman, which did not have the proper production, warehouse and other capacities for this, were involved in the implementation of defense orders.
The DBR claims that the winners of the tenders did not fulfill six contracts, and for at least seven contracts they delivered goods to the warehouses of military units only in small quantities, although they received payment for full execution. Another eight transactions were executed with a delay of three to five months. According to preliminary estimates, this caused damage to the state amounting to more than a billion hryvnia, the DBR reported.
At the end of December, this Lviv businessman was detained for trying to give a bribe of half a million dollars to one of the heads of the DBR in order for him to “assist in the return of property seized from companies under his control during a criminal investigation.”
On December 30, the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv chose a preventive measure for the businessman in the form of detention. He was also informed of suspicion under part three of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for imprisonment for up to eight years.
Law enforcement officials still have not named the person involved in this case, however, according to Ukrainian media and journalist Tatyana Nikolaenko, who is a member of the public anti-corruption council of the Ministry of Defense, he is Igor Grinkevich.
Igor Grinkevich himself is still silent. Meanwhile, his son Roman commented on the corruption allegations.
We are ready for any information attacks. We are confident that our activities took place in accordance with the current legislation. We definitely won’t make excuses, throw mud, look for compromising evidence or create it! – he wrote on Instagram.
At the same time, Roman Grinkevich claims that the scandal about his family was “ordered” and he allegedly knows the names of those who are interested in this.
“We are convinced that law enforcement agencies at all levels and directly from the Ministry of Defense will sort everything out using official data,” he added.
