- being a cleric of the UOC-MP, he justified the armed aggression of the Russian Federation and the temporary occupation of part of the territory of Ukraine, including Donetsk and Lugansk;
- publicly spread fakes about Ukrainian defenders on the eastern front and called Russia’s full-scale aggression an “escalation of the conflict” between Russia and Ukraine.
The examination initiated by the SBU confirmed the facts of his explosive activities against the state security of Ukraine, the report says. — During searches at the defendant’s place of residence, a mobile phone was found red-handed.
An investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime, including checking the facts of possible cooperation between a representative of the UOC-MP and the Russian special services.
The press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office notes that the defendant is a 39-year-old resident of the capital.
According to the investigation, the suspect:
- after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he prepared and sent a letter to official government bodies in which he justified Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, which began in 2014, and also glorified the persons who carried it out;
- in his appeal, the man also justified the actions of the Metropolitan of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, suspected of violating the equality of citizens depending on their racial, national, regional affiliation, religious beliefs and justifying, denying Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants (Part 1 of Art. 16). , part 1 of article 436-2 of the Criminal Code).
