Bratislava is ready to join the initiative as soon as “irrefutable evidence” is received, the Foreign Minister assured.
Slovakia refused to sign a declaration condemning the supply of North Korean missiles to Russia. TASR reported this on Wednesday, January 10th.
Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar said Bratislava “continues to stand” for compliance with international law and UN Security Council sanctions.
“But we will not do this (condemn sanction violations, – ed.) just because someone comes to us and says what they think, but they won’t give us evidence to back it up,” he said.
Blanar assured that Slovakia is ready to join the declaration as soon as the evidence is presented.
“I assure you: as soon as we have evidence at our disposal and it convinces us, especially the international community at the level of the Security Council, we will join it (the statement of condemnation,” edit.),” said the minister.
Let’s remember that earlier almost 50 countries signed a declaration condemning the supply of North Korean ballistic missiles to Russia. The declaration was signed by almost all EU countries, except for two – Hungary and Slovakia.
The White House has released information about North Korea’s arms transfer to the Russian Federation. According to White House National Security Council coordinator John Kirby, Russia has launched similar missiles at Ukraine several times.
