The head of the parliamentary committee on energy and housing and communal services, Andriy Gerus, said that some solvent Ukrainians are abusing the moratorium and not paying for services, and money is needed to restore energy facilities after the attacks.
There are the most disciplined payers for housing and communal services – subsidies and pensioners. But at the same time, quite wealthy people began to abuse certain norms and accumulate debts for electricity. We see that some categories of people who can pay did not pay, simply realizing that there would be nothing at all for this. Therefore, the Government was looking for a solution. The situation is gradually improving.
There are still quite a lot of enterprises that did not pay for electricity because they thought that during the war they could not pay and come up with some kind of explanation. But we must understand that businesses must be able to pay. We need to look for a solution for them or find some cheap electricity. Or how to help everyone in a targeted manner,” Gerus said on the Rada TV channel.
