The billionaire vehemently denied the Wall Street Journal report that he was using drugs. However, the publication said it “remains in its position.”
SpaceX and Tesla director Elon Musk strongly denied information from the Wall Street Journal that he allegedly uses illegal drugs. The Hill reported this on Monday, January 8.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Musk used LSD, cocaine, ecstasy and psychedelic mushrooms, including at intimate private parties around the world. It cited “people who witnessed his drug use and others who knew about it.”
In a post on X (Twitter), Musk responded to allegations in an article that said the turning point came in 2018, when Musk “got into trouble with NASA” for smoking marijuana on The Joe Rogan Show. This has reportedly raised concerns among some about the impact of Musk’s behavior on the business.
“After one puff with Rogan, I agreed, at NASA’s request, to take a drug test. There was not even a trace of any drugs or alcohol,” Musk said.
He criticized the Wall Street Journal, calling it “unworthy of a parrot cage line.”
In a statement released to the magazine, Musk’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, also said that Musk “has been regularly and randomly drug tested at SpaceX and has never failed a test.” Spiro added that there were other false facts in the article, but did not elaborate.
The magazine reported that any illegal drug use would likely be a violation of federal policy and could jeopardize SpaceX’s government contracts. The story notes that SpaceX is the only American company approved to transport astronauts to the International Space Station, and that cooperation between the company and the Pentagon has expanded in recent years.
In a further statement, the Wall Street Journal stressed: “We stand firm.”
Recall that in 2018, Elon Musk smoked marijuana on live television, which led to a fall in the company’s shares.
