Japan allocated $37 million to Ukraine to combat UAVs

The head of the Japanese Foreign Ministry noted that his country has also provided five mobile gas turbine generators and seven transformers.

Japan is allocating $37 million to help Ukraine purchase drone detection systems. Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa announced this in a briefing with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba on Sunday, January 7.

“I again condemn the continued Russian missile and drone attacks in various places, including Kiev, even during the New Year holidays. And I express my sincere condolences to the victims of these attacks, I would like to once again express my respect for the courage of the Ukrainian people, who have been defending themselves against Russian aggression for a long time. Japan is determined to support Ukraine so that peace can reign again in Ukraine, ” he said.

The official added that his visit to Kyiv shows Japan’s support for Ukraine, so his country will help purchase drone detection systems.

“Japan is actively promoting support for Ukraine. As part of our support, Japan recently decided to contribute $37 million to the NATO trust fund to provide a drone detection system,” Kamikawa said.

Japan also provided five mobile gas turbine generators and seven transformers.

The minister expressed the idea of ​​supporting Ukrainian educational institutions, health care and building shelters for women and children.

It was previously reported that Yoko Kamikawa arrived in Kyiv on Sunday, January 7, for an unannounced visit.

As we already wrote, in December the state budget of Ukraine received more than $950 million from Japan as part of World Bank projects for reconstruction and social protection.
