Russian authorities do not allow the Commissioner for Human Rights and representatives of other human rights organizations to enter the peninsula.
The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe condemned the human rights violations committed by the Russian occupation authorities against ethnic Ukrainians, Crimean Tatars and other residents of the annexed Crimea. The decision was made based on a report by CE Secretary General Maria Pejcinovic-Buric, the organization’s press service reported on June 16.
It was noted that under the conditions of Russian occupation, the human rights situation in Crimea has deteriorated significantly. Repeated serious violations of international humanitarian law have not been investigated promptly and effectively.
Committee members expressed concern that the Russian Federation does not allow the Commissioner for Human Rights and representatives of other human rights organizations to enter the peninsula.
They also condemned Russia’s unreasonable and unreasonable armed aggression against Ukraine, calling on Moscow to end the war, withdraw its troops, start peace negotiations, release those illegally detained, and stop the violations. on human rights in the Crimea, including the removal of the Mejlis ban.
Recall that in mid -March Russia was expelled from the Council of Europe, and on June 7 the State Duma adopted two bills allowing not to enforce the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights in the country.
