The Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim Khan, on the air of the Ukrainian telethon, said that international experts had collected a large amount of information about the war crimes of the Russian Federation in Ukraine.
“So far, we have documented a lot of incidents, determined what crimes were committed and who could be responsible,” Khan said.
Karim Khan noted that on his second visit to Ukraine in the Kyiv region, he saw that “Ukraine is a crime scene.” We are talking about the destruction of civilian infrastructure, crimes against children, sexual crimes, torture, ill-treatment of prisoners.
“Our task is to use the requirements and possibilities of the law and, in fact, to verify the accuracy of the information, the authenticity of the information we have received from various sources … Then we determine the real situation, we will be able to use the law and engage international judges to properly draw conclusions, ”Khan said.
The ICC prosecutor also stressed that during any conflict, “disproportionate consequences for children, women, the elderly” will be seen, and it is necessary “to mobilize the law to the maximum to protect them.”
“I would like to take this opportunity to assure you of our full support and desire to achieve justice … we cannot tolerate such ridicule of the law, we must make sure that the whole world sees that the law works,” the ICC said. said the speaker.
