Ukrainian pilots may complete training on F-16 aircraft in the United States before the end of 2024.
It takes five to eight months to train Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighters. This was announced by Pentagon spokesman Brigadier General Patrick Ryder in a briefing on January 4.
According to him, the United States expects the Ukrainians to complete their studies by the end of 2024.
“As you know, this, again, depends on the pilot’s training level and can take from five to eight months. So I expect that at the end of this year the training of these pilots will be completed. But I don’t have any specific data for you”, says Ryder.
The Pentagon spokesman also recalled that a group of Ukrainian pilots is currently continuing training at an American air base in Arizona.
It was previously reported that the first six Ukrainian pilots have completed basic training at the Royal Air Force and are now learning to fly F-16 fighters in Denmark.
At the end of December, the Dutch government decided to prepare the first 18 F-16 fighters for transfer to Ukraine.
