Surface keyboards and Microsoft partner devices will have a dedicated key that will launch the AI assistant Copilot. Microsoft Executive Vice President Yusuf Mehdi announced this on Thursday, January 4, on the company’s blog.
Commenting on the update, Mehdi compared it to adding a separate Windows key to open the Start menu in 1994.
The new key will call the Copilot assistant, where you can generate tests and images, and search for information.
“The introduction of the Copilot key marks the first significant change to the Windows PC keyboard in nearly three decades. … When pressed, the new key launches Copilot in Windows to make Copilot easier to use in your everyday life. enabled people around the world to interact with Windows. We see this as a turning point in our Windows journey, where Copilot will be the entry point into the world of AI on the PC,” said Mehdi.
Microsoft will showcase several products with the Copilot key at the upcoming CES tech event, which kicks off next week in Las Vegas.
It was previously reported that Microsoft will invest more than $3 billion in the development of artificial intelligence in Australia.
