Czeslaw Sekierski emphasized that there is no reason to believe that his earlier promises to the farmers will not be fulfilled.
Polish Minister of Agriculture Czeslaw Sekierski said that the embargo on Ukrainian products is not certain – until a separate order to lift it. He said this at a press conference on January 4, Ukrinform reports.
“The cordons will not be opened, the embargo on Ukrainian products will be indefinite until it is lifted,” Sekierski said after a meeting with representatives of Polish farmers’ organizations.
He supports the implementation of the farmers’ postulates, but it takes time.
The minister emphasized that there is no reason to believe that what he previously promised to the farmers will not be fulfilled.
As reported, today the Polish farmers continued blocking the border. They are asking for subsidies for corn purchases, maintaining this year’s agricultural tax at 2023 levels and expanding the availability of loans to ensure liquidity.
We remind you that the Polish farmers began to block the Medice crossing from November 23, 2023. On December 24, they announced that they will suspend their protest until early January, and if their demands are met, they can continue this on January 4.
