Forecasters predict significant cold temperatures, snow and ice in Ukraine. The press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported this today, January 4.
It was reported that on the afternoon of January 7 and during the day on January 8 in the regions of Cherkassy,Kirovograd, Poltava, Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov there was snow, in Odessa, Nikolaev, Kherson, Zaporozhye, Donetsk and Luhansk regions it was heavy rain (rain turning to snow), sleet, wet snow.

On January 7-9, a significant drop in night temperature is predicted to 13-20° below zero (in Chernihiv and Sumy regions – up to 19-25 below zero), in the southern part on 7 -15 below zero.
“We encourage drivers not to plan long trips, and all citizens to exercise caution while on the road,” the State Emergency Service said in a statement.

According to observatory climatologists, the shortest frost-free periods in the capital were in 1902 and 1945. – 144 days each, the longest was recorded this year – 232 days, and the previous record of 225 days was recorded last year.
