In the emergency security situation that has arisen as a result of Russia’s war of aggression, it is extremely important that we continue to support Ukraine,” said the head of the country’s Foreign Ministry.
The permit means that Norwegian companies can apply to the Foreign Ministry and receive a license to directly sell defense products to Ukraine, the Norwegian government website reported on January 1.
Norway produces anti-ship missile systems and ammunition (grenades, mines, shells). For example, one of the largest companies, Kongsberg Gruppen ASA, produces Naval Strike Missile (NSM) anti-ship missile systems, which can be used as a coastal battery, mounted on a wheeled base or on the deck of a ship. Latvia was preparing to purchase naval strike missiles with a range of up to 250 km from this manufacturer.
Canada has stated that it is ready to supply additional NASAMS air defense systems to Ukraine. President Vladimir Zelensky announced this after a telephone conversation with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
