The State Duma voted at the end of July 2023 for amendments to change the draft age – they are now implemented.
Legislation increasing the draft age began in Russia. Now they can recruit people into the army at the age of 30. This was reported by the Russian publication The Insider, which positions itself as independent.
The age of conscription was raised from 27 to 30 years. The bottom bar remains the same. Russians can be drafted into military service at age 18.
“At the end of July 2023, the State Duma immediately, in the second and third reading, adopted amendments to the law on changing the conscription age,” the publication wrote.
Some deputies of the State Duma proposed to raise the draft age to 50 years.
The entry into force of the law raising the draft age will affect nearly two million Russians.

Failure to appear at a summons at the military registration and enlistment office is punishable by a fine of up to 50 thousand rubles. The fine for failure to provide assistance in military registration and enlistment offices is up to 500 thousand rubles.
