The death toll in the Russian city of Belgorod as a result of explosions on December 30 has risen to 22. This was announced by the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, on Telegram on Sunday, December 31.
“The number of dead increased after yesterday’s shelling in Belgorod, there were 22 of them. One of the victims died at night in the hospital,” he wrote.
According to Gladkov, another 109 people were injured, 25 of them seriously.
30 apartment buildings, 381 apartments, several private houses, and many cars were damaged.
We remind you that on December 30, the media reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were striking military targets in Belgorod. But the ineffective work of the Russian air defense caused destruction to the city’s civilian infrastructure.
Later, the Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed the failure of air defense – missiles flying in the direction of the Belgorod region were shot down and their debris fell on Belgorod. 10 dead and over 40 injured were reported.
