The Russian Ministry of Defense said that the Ukrainian Defense Forces allegedly attacked the Russian city of Belgorod with Vilkha missiles and Czech-made Vampire missiles.
The Czech Republic did not participate in an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, which Russia decided to meet because of the explosions in the city of Belgorod, which borders Ukraine. This was announced on Saturday, December 30, by Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipovsky in Twitter.
“We refuse to be called anywhere by Russia. The Czech Republic will not serve the propaganda of the aggressor with poisonous lies. When Russia wants to discuss the withdrawal of its occupation forces in the Security Council, we will gladly come,” wrote he.
Before this, Russia’s UN representative Dmitry Polyansky statedthat his country is requesting an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council. He accused Ukraine of “killing civilians” with bullets from the Czech Republic and requested the presence of the Czech Ambassador to the UN at the meeting.
Earlier on Saturday, the media reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked military facilities in Belgorod. But the ineffective work of Russian air defense has caused damage to the city’s civilian infrastructure, the sources said.
Later, the Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed the failure of air defense – missiles flying in the direction of the Belgorod region were shot down and their debris fell on Belgorod.
