Maria Zakharova called the strike in Belgorod a “terrorist attack” and blamed the Ukrainian armed forces for it.
The aggressor country Russia has requested a meeting of the UN Security Council over the shelling of the city of Belgorod. This was announced by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova on Saturday, December 30.
He called the Belgorod attack a “terrorist attack” and blamed the Ukrainian armed forces for it.
According to Zakharova, “Britain is behind the terrorist attack, which, in coordination with the United States, incites the “Kiev regime” to terrorist actions, realizing that the Ukrainian counter-offensive Armed Forces have failed.”
At the same time, Maria Zakharova “put” the responsibility on the EU states, which continue to provide weapons to Kyiv, including cluster munitions, apparently.
Meanwhile, in Belgorod the number of casualties rose again – 18 dead and 111 wounded.
Earlier on Saturday, the media reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked military facilities in Belgorod. But the ineffective work of Russian air defense has caused damage to the city’s civilian infrastructure, the sources said.
Later, the Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed the failure of air defense – missiles flying in the direction of the Belgorod region were shot down and their debris fell on Belgorod.
