The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this.
The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains difficult. During the day, 31 military clashes occurred. In total, the enemy launched 134 missile and 60 air strikes, carried out 36 attacks from multiple launch rocket systems on the positions of our troops and populated areas, the General Staff said in an evening message on December 29.
Russia, according to the Ukrainian military, is actively using operational-tactical aviation and FPV-type quadcopters, carrying out assault operations with the support of armored vehicles, and has increased the number of airstrikes.
Meanwhile, Russia deployed a battalion of Ukrainian prisoners of war to the front. The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reports: On December 28, Russian media reported that near the village of Urozhaynoye, soldiers of the Bogdan Khmelnitsky battalion, formed from Ukrainian prisoners of war and subordinate to the Cascade formation of the so-called DPR Ministry of Internal Affairs, took part in hostilities for the first time.
According to ISW analysts, the use of Ukrainian prisoners of war in the Bohdan Khmelnytsky battalion is a possible violation of the Geneva Convention.
