There is a risk of delayed payments to social categories in the long term if funding from foreign partners is delayed. However, in the short term in the first months of 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers has an alternative action plan. First Deputy Prime Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Sviridenko announced this on Facebook on December 27.
Now, together with our partners, we are working on several options for the development of events in the event that there are delays in funding from the EU and the USA. But we are sure that they will not be needed. We see clear signals from partners that funding will be forthcoming, the report says.
However, according to Marchenko, the government has an alternative plan in the short term in the first months of the year.
In 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers plans to add incentives for economic development and faster growth. This is the development of production, support for non-resource exports and attraction of investment in this sector.
In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers identified several priority steps:
- confiscation of Russian sovereign assets for transfer to Ukraine;
- expansion of exports and transport links. This is in the future – more than 10 billion dollars. export earnings;
- expansion of energy capacity;
- return of Ukrainians;
- development of enterprises of the military-industrial complex;
- attracting investments into the Ukrainian economy through attracting financing, insurance of war risks, privatization.
Let us recall that in December the Senate of the United States of America was unable to agree on funding for Ukraine before the New Year. Negotiations are expected to be postponed to January 2024. Foreign media predict that an agreement on Ukraine and the US border is unlikely to be concluded in the near future.
