The spokesman of the Armed Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces emphasized that this aircraft “has a wide range of weapons that can be used on any part of the front.”
Ukraine has great plans for American F-16 fighters, which should be transferred to partners. Air Force Speaker Yuriy Ignat spoke about this on the air of the United News telethon.
“The plans are grandiose. The aircraft is multi-purpose, and therefore will be able to perform many tasks to support the forces on the ground,” the spokesman emphasized.
He noted that due to the versatility of the American fighter, it can be used for several needs.
-
attacks against ground targets at various depths of enemy defenses;
-
cover for attack aircraft;
-
ensuring airspace in the Black Sea;
-
covering the country from enemy drones and missiles;
-
countering enemy ships.
“The F-16 has a wide range of weapons that can be used in one or another part of the front. Well, it will help to get priority in the air and will oppose the use of guided bombs,” concluded Ignat.
As you know, the Netherlands has promised 42 F-16 fighters for Ukraine. In turn, Denmark will provide 19 aircraft, six of them by the end of this year. The transfer of F-16s was also announced by Norway, which has about 60 aircraft.
In addition, the Dutch government decided to prepare the first 18 F-16 fighters for transfer to Ukraine.
