The Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive additional artillery, coastal defense weapons, ammunition for artillery and advanced missile systems.
The new US military aid package includes: MLRS ammunition, 18 M777 howitzers and a Harpoon anti-ship missile system. This was announced on Wednesday, June 15, by U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin at a briefing following the results of the third meeting in Rammstein format.
“I am pleased to announce today that the United States will provide Ukraine with an additional $ 1 billion security assistance package … This includes MLRS guided munitions, an additional 18 M777 howitzers and tactical vehicles to support them, and 36,000 155mm bullets, ”Austin said.
He noted that the new package also includes $ 650 million in security assistance initiatives for Ukraine.
“This will help Ukraine defend itself with two additional Harpoon coastal defense systems and thousands of secure radios, night vision devices, thermal imaging sights and other optics,” the Pentagon chief added.
Austin also said that Slovakia will provide Ukraine with Mi-17 helicopters, while Canada, Poland and the Netherlands will provide artillery.
In addition, he confirmed information about the provision of Germany’s three MLRS MARS.
