The militant was also deprived of the right to hold positions in government bodies, state administration, and local self-government related to the provision of public services and the performance of organizational, administrative and economic functions for a period of 15 years. In addition, it is expected that all property belonging to him will be confiscated. The press center of the Security Service of Ukraine reported this on December 27.
The investigation established that the leader of the fictional Donetsk People’s Republic promotes Russian armed aggression and spreads the Kremlin regime in the territory of the occupied Donbass. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Pushilin has ensured the pushback of enemy troops to the eastern front, including through roads and railways.
In addition, he was the organizer of the “referendum on annexation” of the occupied regions of the region into Russia, and subsequently signed, together with dictator Putin, the so-called agreement on the region’s inclusion in the aggressor country.
The court found Pushilin guilty for hour. 2 tbsp. 110 (committing deliberate actions with the aim of changing the boundaries of the territory and state border of Ukraine in violation of the order established by the Constitution of Ukraine, by prior conspiracy by a group of persons) and ch. 2 tbsp. 28, part 5 art. 111-1 (participation in the organization of an illegal referendum in temporarily occupied territory, by prior conspiracy by a group of persons) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The SBU emphasized that the term of serving the sentence will be calculated from the moment of Pushilin’s actual detention.
Let us recall that in November, based on materials from the SBU, 52 deputies of the Russian State Duma were sentenced in absentia to 15 years in prison for helping Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin start a full-scale war in Ukraine.
