Iran has begun ramping up its production of the highly enriched uranium needed to build nuclear weapons. The IAEA announced this on Tuesday, December 26, Reuters reports.
Iran has increased uranium production again at the Natang and Fordo sites. Since the end of November, it has produced about nine kilograms of uranium enriched to 60%.
“Iran already has enough uranium with a purity of 6% to produce three atomic bombs and continues to produce uranium,” IAEA experts said.
According to Reuters, IAEA inspectors first noticed a change in production at the Fordo plant on November 25. An increase in production rates at Natang was recorded on November 27.
It was noted that at the official level Iran continues to deny its intention to develop nuclear weapons.
