The Russian army has stopped using guided bombs in the south of the country.

    .

In the first three weeks of December, Russian military aircraft dropped more than 330 guided bombs on Ukraine, but stopped doing so after Ukraine shot down three Russian Su-34 bombers on December 22, Natalya Gumenyuk, a spokeswoman for the southern Ukrainian Defense Forces, said Tuesday.

According to her, most of the bombs were dropped on the left and right banks of the Dnieper in the Kherson region.

Since December 22, not a single air bomb has been dropped in our area of responsibility. Not only on land, but also in the sea,” Gumenyuk said during the briefing.

She linked this to the successful combat work of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the south of the country. During the month, according to her information, five Russian aircraft were destroyed: the first on December 5 near Zmeiny Island, three over the past week.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky previously announced the destruction of three modern Russian aircraft. The Russian Ministry of Defense has not yet reported the losses of its aircraft.

Disabling enemy aircraft is extremely important, including due to the fact that Russian troops very actively used tactical aviation, Gumenyuk explained.

This applies to those areas in which Russian aviation drops controlled aerial bombs on populated areas on the right bank, and later began bombing the Ukrainian Armed Forces bridgehead on the left bank of the Dnieper.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Air Force hinted that the Russian Su-34 fighter was shot down using an American-made Patriot missile system. Air Force Commander Nikolai Oleschuk recalled in his telegram channel that exactly a year ago Vladimir Putin promised to “deal with Patriot” if they were delivered to Ukraine. “Coincidence? I don’t think so,” said Oleschuk, hinting at a well-known phrase from the arsenal of Russian propaganda.

Air Force spokesman Yuri Ignat also hinted at American-made systems by posting a photo of a Patriot launcher on Facebook.
