“We are trying to explain that visas under the Ukraine Scheme are free and people must have a connection with a legal sponsor in the UK to apply,” he stressed.
The British Red Cross said it was aware of cases where the British, who were supposed to host Ukrainians, had paid them to travel to the country with a specific job offer, but later learned that the terms of employment are significantly different from those. agreed.
“We have also heard cases where additional living costs (utilities, food costs) associated with raising a family are used as a basis to force people to work in exploitative conditions,” added Red Cross.
Other charities have previously warned that owners of homes where Ukrainians live are overbilling, forcing people to work overtime.
It was previously reported that Finland will pay 5,300 euros to refugees who return home.
