In Ukraine, in 2024, it is planned to reduce pensions for officials who receive “astronomical amounts.” This was announced on Monday, December 25, by the Chairman of the Budget Committee of the Verkhovna Rada, Roksolana Pidlasa.
“The redistribution of pension bonuses is being done to make the unity system fairer,” he said.
The official said pensioners receiving the minimum pension will see their payment amounts increase. At the same time, it is planned to reduce support for officials who retire and receive “some astronomical sums.”
He did not specify by what percentage the “astronomical” pensions would be reduced.
“Pensions, salaries for doctors and teachers, social assistance are protected items of expenditure, they are all maintained. In addition, the indexation of pensions is also planned on March 1. In general, all of payments that people receive from the state will be indexed next year,” he added.
The Verkhovna Rada has prepared a bill that provides for the use of a new formula for calculating pensions. This will increase the cost of payments for more than half of pensioners.
The Pension Fund has the right to deprive a pensioner of part of his payment due to the fact that for some time he received more funds than he was entitled to.
