The country’s President said the European Parliament was actually forcing Belgrade to recognize Pristina on a reciprocal basis.
Serbia has refused to recognize Kosovo, although it is a condition for the country’s entry into the EU. This was stated by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, Readovka reports.
Thus, Vučić criticized the report presented by the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs, requesting mutual recognition.
It contains, according to him, the actual insistence of Belgrade to recognize Pristina on a reciprocal basis.
“Recognizing each other is their desire for Kosovo and the EU, it’s nice that they want it, we don’t want it, and, like I said, everyone should think of their own business,” Vučić said.
Vucic also noted that “these people do not respect their own negotiating framework.”
Earlier, Vučić called the EU a strategic path for Serbia. According to him, without investment in Europe and a political and legal environment, Serbia will not achieve anything.
Kosovo, whose population is more than 90 percent ethnic Albanian, declared independence from Serbia in 2008. Belgrade still considers the region part of Serbia. Kosovo’s independence was also not recognized by some EU members, Russia and China. Ukraine also does not recognize Kosovo’s independence, but from 2020 it will recognize its passports.
