At the beginning of 2024, Spain will send hundreds of its troops to Slovakia. ABC España wrote this on Monday, December 25.
According to the publication, in January the Spanish army will start deploying on the Slovakian border to protect the eastern part of the North Atlantic Alliance.
It is understood that the new mission will include 600 Spanish soldiers, Leopard tanks and helicopters.
“The Armed Forces will start in 2024 with a new base in Slovakia. A total of 600 troops will form this new mission aimed at strengthening NATO’s presence in the eastern part,” the statement said.
Germany has agreed to send 4,800 troops to Lithuania on the Russian border until 2027. The agreement between Germany and Lithuania would mark the first permanent deployment of German troops since World War II.
