The press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General reported this today, December 25.
He was a member of the parliamentary faction from the banned political party “Opposition Platform – During Life” and is now an assistant to the people’s deputy of Ukraine.
Prosecutors proved in court that the city council deputy in June-July 2022, in conversations with his close relatives and acquaintances, expressed pro-Russian views and Russian propaganda narratives, the report says. “He justified and recognized Russian aggression as legitimate and supported the actions of the invaders on the territory of Ukraine.
It is noted that the deputy:
- admired the rule of the Russian President;
- praised the Russian army;
- he wanted victory over Ukraine, hoping to occupy leadership positions in the event of the occupation of the Cherkasy region.
The statutory period for appealing the verdict continues.
The publication “Public” notes that we are talking about Alexander Zamirail. His wife was also put on the international wanted list. Zamirailo himself, according to investigators, planned to leave for the United States.
Zamiraylo said he would challenge this verdict.
The appeal is filed within a month, and then we have another two to three weeks for consideration,” added his lawyer Andrei Smolyar.
Pending appeal and final sentencing, the defendant will remain free on personal recognizance.
