The All-Night Vigil on the eve of the Nativity of Christ began at St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Cathedral in Kyiv.
On the Sunday before Christmas, Metropolitan Epiphanius of Kiev and All Ukraine led a holy service in the Cathedral of the Golden-Domed Cathedral of St. Michael in Kyiv. This was reported on December 24 by the Kyiv Metropolis press service of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (OCU).
“On the Sunday before the Nativity of Christ, the twenty-ninth after Pentecost, December 24, 2023, His Beatitude Metropolitan Epiphanius of Kiev and All Ukraine led the divine liturgy in the Cathedral of St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Cathedral in the capital,” the message said.
After reading the Gospel, the Primate of OCU gave a sermon and prayed to the Lord.
Also during the service, prayer requests were made for the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, for the Ukrainian authorities and people, and for the peace of the souls of all the fallen defenders of the Motherland and those civilians who died during the war with the Russian aggressors.
Later, the All-Night Vigil began on Christmas Eve at St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Cathedral. This service was also led by Metropolitan Epifaniy.
Earlier on Sunday, President Vladimir Zelensky wished Ukrainians a Merry Christmas. According to him, today the common prayer will unite millions of Ukrainians – as before.
