The period between the departure of the current US president and the inauguration of his potential successor will be threatening, the sources said.
A European study suggests that Russia may invade Europe in the winter of 2024-2025. This was reported by Bild newspaper, citing its own sources.
“The intelligence service believes that Russia could strike Europe precisely at the moment when the United States finds itself “leaderless” and will be able to help European states only after some delay,” the report said.
We are talking about the period between the departure of the current US President in early November 2024 and the inauguration of his potential successor in January 2025.
An intelligence official said Russian officials hope former President Donald Trump will return to the White House because “anything can happen” during his presidency.
The newspaper recalls that the previous German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that the European defense industry needs time to increase its capabilities.
“We have about five to eight years to catch up – both militarily and in industry and society,” he said.
Earlier, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Europe poses a threat to Russia. It is the actions of EU countries that “force us to do what we are doing now,” he said.
And Czech President Petr Pavel said that NATO now sees Russia as the biggest threat to Europe. The EU is preparing for a possible “high-intensity conflict” on the continent.
